Video: Chao vs. Daiya – vegan cheese battle royale!

If you haven’t had a chance to read my review of Chao’s vegan cheese, I’ve also done a video review featuring a side by side comparison of Chao vs. Daiya. In case you aren’t vegan, Daiya is a wildly popular and omnipresent name in in the vegan cheese market. They make pizzas, a wide assortment of cheeses, yogurt and more. 

As you can see from the video, I’m a little bit too excited about Chao, but I don’t care. It’s awesome. And definitely the first vegan cheese I could fearlessly give to a real foodie. If you are just beginning to switch out animal products in your diet, Chao makes a painless substitute. And that’s important!

I’ve been trying to figure out why Chao is so much better than Daiya, and I honestly think it’s because Daiya has been developing so many products at once that they really haven’t had time to improve their cheese. But it’s high time they got around to it.

I do really like Daiya – we actually ordered Hawaiian-ish Daiya pizza from Panago last night with pineapple, faux pepperoni and Daiya. It’s my favourite pizza on earth and I usually get it at least once a month. So I’m a loyal Daiya customer, but I probably won’t be buying their slices until they reformulate them.

Just my two cents! As I mention in the video, if you disagree I would LOVE to hear from you. Is there anyone out there that’s tried both and still prefers Daiya? Please let me know!
